Wife charged in connection with Trelawny deejay’s murder.

The allegedpeople contract killing of an upcoming deejay in Trelawny last month has set tongues wagging in the parish and on social media.

Dead is 25-year-old Jamari Reid of Falmouth Gardens, Trelawny.

Reid’s 56-year-old Canadian wife is being fingered as the person behind his brutal demise at his home in Falmouth, Trelawny. It is alleged that the relationship between the two had deteriorated for months.

The detectives attached to the Falmouth Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) last week charged Monique Cooke-Reid, a retired psychologist of Ontario, Canada with the murder of her husband, who is half her age.

Reports are that on the night of Wednesday, August 24, around 10:00 pm the young entertainer was at his home in the company of two friends when they were pounced upon by two gunmen. The attackers tied up the occupants of the house before shooting Reid multiple times in the chest and head.

Police found Reid’s bullet-riddled body in a pool of blood with his hands and feet bound.

MARKED FOR DEATH

It was said by residents that the gunmen casually walked out the back door of the building after committing the murder.

Their nonchalant departure and the fact that the other occupants of the house were not hurt, spurred reports and speculation that the deejay was in fact marked for death.

It is also alleged that Reid’s wife had repeatedly threatened him days before his murder and their relationship had gone sour.

CHARGED

Head of the Trelawny police, superintendent Clive Blair confirmed that Cooke-Reid was last week charged with soliciting to commit murder.

She is expected to make her appearance in court this week.

In the meantime, Supt Blair explained to The Times that the police are still continuing their investigations to find the culprits behind the shooting death of Reid.

The Falmouth Gardens community in which Reid lived was plunged into mourning after the deejay was killed execution style last month. Several persons have described Reid as a “very quiet and promising deejay”, who did not deserve his death.

Debates have also been raised on social media regarding whether a younger man and an older woman should engage in an intimate relationship.

Reid is known for songs such as ‘My Place’ and My Wild Life.’ He was also in the process of shooting a video for his song ‘M.O.N.E.Y’at the time of his death.
