FACEBOOK READERS QUESTION PREPAREDNESS FOR HURRICANE

Readers of the North Coast Times Facebook page have expressed scepticism and a lack of belief in comments made by Mayor Michael Belnavis that St Ann is prepared for the hurricane season that started June 1.

Mr Belnavis was speaking at a press briefing on disaster preparedness at the St Ann Municipal Corporation’s Council room on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Phoenix Reborn Queen Darbz makes a comment subscribed to by several others – that the Mayor is living in a different country than they are. She says, “Guess I am living in a different St Ann from the Mayor… But the number of houses still have on tarpaulins or roofless still. Sir, which one of the St Ann dem ????”

Kole Kole says “What, when? Not the St. Ann I know.”

Speaking directly about rainfall related to drainage issues, Kevin Parsons says, “Ochi not even prepared for 2 inches of rain.. Definitely not prepared for a hurricane.”

Greako Linkz asks, “A so ‘ready’ look? Kmt.”

Others have accused the Mayor of not telling the truth or not knowing the reality.

The preparedness the Mayor was speaking about included the commencement of drain clearance and the readiness of some shelters across the country.
