WALKERSWOOD CELEBRATES MATHS ‘IN ALL ITS GLORY’

MATHEMATICS DAY SUPPORTED BY SCHOOLS, AGENCIES

WALKERSWOOD, St Ann; March 27, 2025

Walkerswood Academy celebrated their Mathematics Day with an expo under the theme “Beyond the Numbers: Creating Change, Inspiring Innovation”, on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

With support from other schools in the area, it was a day to showcase Mathematics in all glory, at the Academy, St Ann.

Principal Nadine Atkinson Walker said that the day was another initiative to strengthen the mathematical outcomes of students creating an impact and also supporting the National School  Learning Intervention  Plan (NSLIP), an initiative from the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information.

The chief engineers of the day were the acting head of the department, Monica Somers, and Stafford Knight, mathematics teacher. The ancillary staff, administrative staff and additional members of the academic staff helped to make the day a success.

Some exhibitors for the day were: The host school; Walkerswood Academy, Walkerswood Basic School, Camperdown Primary, Golden Grove All-Age, Moneague College, Bank of Nova Scotia, and Unicomer Jamaica Limited (COURTS).

In addition, there were Math games, puzzles, presentations and booth interactions throughout the day.

The Principal said: “Overall the day was very successful and we hope to make it even better next year.
