The regional health authority responsible for the St Ann’s Bay Hospital has formally confirmed that it is investigating an altercation captured in a video that has gone viral.

The North-East Regional Health Authority (NERHA) is aware of the circulation of video footage depicting an altercation between members of the security team, visitors, and a staff member at the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, which occurred at the hospital on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at approximately 5:34 pm.
NERHA wishes to advise the general public that the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital’s management has initiated an investigative process in response to this incident in accordance with our protocols and standard operating procedures. We are committed to a thorough and impartial investigation that will provide a clear understanding of the incident. We anticipate that the findings from the investigation will yield further details and insights into the matter and are committed to transparency throughout the investigation process.
We understand the impact this incident may have had on the individuals involved, and in this regard, counselling and support services are being made available to staff members, patients, visitors and other stakeholders who may have been affected emotionally or physically.
We are committed to implementing measures to prevent incidents of this nature in the future, which includes additional training for staff and enhancements to our security protocols.
