Two Kingston men have been charged with the murder of a St Mary vendor at a market in the parish.
Dead is thirty-nine-year-old Shelton Watson, a vendor of Vincent in Highgate, St. Mary.
Charged are: thirty-year-old Dushane Gentles, a vendor of Q Lane, Kingston 13, and thirty-seven-year-old Rohan Gordon otherwise called ‘Rugu’, truck driver of Lincoln Crescent, Kingston 5.
The two have been charged with Murder, Wounding with Intent, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony. The charges arose out of an incident on Main Street, Highgate in St. Mary on Saturday, May 13.
Reports are that about 3:20 p.m., Watson and others were at the back of the burnt-out market playing cards when two men walked up and one of them opened fire. There was panic among the small group of gamblers and shoppers who ran in different directions.
Upon their arrival, police found Watson and another man in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to the hospital, where Watson succumbed to his injuries whilst undergoing treatment.
The other man was treated and released.
Gentles and Gordon were arrested on Tuesday, June 6, and charged after an interview.
