Two of the four people, who the St Ann police charged for conducting business with more than one million dollars in cash, pleaded guilty to the charges and were slapped with fines when they appeared before the St. Ann Parish Court on Tuesday, May 17.Charged with breaches of the Proceed of Crime Act (POCA) for cash transactions in excess of one million Jamaican dollars were: Devon Hayden, owner of Drax Hall Auto Brokers, St Ann, and his secretary, Andrene Green.Also charged in the case were customers of the business, Gary Jones of Runaway Bay, St Ann and Norman Smith of Kildaire district, Buff Bay, Portland.However, the matters for Jones and Smith have been separated, with Smith expected to appear before the courts on June 2.Police said they found cash receipts at the car mart and on the two customers showing they each paid over one million dollars in cash for separate car purchases.Jones paid over one million dollars in cash to purchase a 2009 Toyota Corolla and Smith did the same for his Toyota Axio Police tracked Smith to Portland where they charged him on Monday, January 11. That was after they had charged the other three.
