TRUCK-CARS CRASH IN SALEM

RESIDENTS MADE EFFORTS TO HELP WOMAN PINNED IN VEHICLE

 

(The effects of the use of a fire extinguisher as flames started to come from the car crashed into a Hi-Pro truck,, in St Ann)

Several people were injured in a three-vehicle collision on the Salem to Runaway Bay main road, St Ann, Friday morning. Reports that one of the passengers of one of the cars had died could not be confirmed.

About 6:30, the car was travelling east, toward St Ann’s Bay, when, near the Salem beach, it reported veered into the path of a Hi-Pro Feed truck travelling in the opposite direction. .

The car was extensively damaged. Another car, also travelling east was also hit and had minor damage.

One occupant of the car that ran into the truck was pinned in the vehicle. Area residents made efforts to remove her but were initially unsuccessful. They however assisted two other passengers to hospital.

Members of the St Ann Fire Brigade later removed the woman who had been trapped in the vehicle. Her health status was not known when this report was being filed.

The driver of the truck appeared unharmed.
