BROWN’S TOWN, OCHI, YC STILL IN
TACKY WITH HORACE CLARKE PLUS IN THE RUN
(Horace Clarke, still in a position to lead Zone ‘I’ after first round of matches)
Close to the end of the first round of matches in Zones ‘C’ and ‘I’, Cedric Titus and Tacky maintain their leads but have played more matches than teams that are at their heels.
There is another round of matches come Monday that will almost surely decide the four teams each, from these two zones, which will go forward to the next round to determine which two will go on to the Inter-Zone stage.
On Saturday Cedric Titus again dropped points in a 2-2 draw with York Castle, in Brown’s Town, and inched up to 14 points after six matches.
Brown’s Town with a 12-1 demolition of Discovery Bay, at Addison Park, are now on 13 points but have played one game fewer than Titus. YC are on 11 points with six games played.
Ocho Rios High are on 12 points also with a game in hand on leaders Titus.
In the latest whipping handed to Discovery Bay, they finally scored one, from the penalty spot, away against Brown’s Town.
For Brown’s Town, Dysean Campbell scored 5 and is among the top scorers in the competition.
Nathan Whitehorne scored three, with two coming from Duyte Barnett. Oral Campbell and Dwegye Brown scored one each.
William Knibb have been in a serious mode since their shock loss to Ocho Rios at home. On Saturday they put five past Aabuthnott Gallimore (AG), without reply.
AG’s team selection for the match was impacted by injuries and the absence of key players, says Coach Andrew Morris.
Knibb quickly stamped their class on the match and in the first 10 minutes had several chances, hitting the upright and the crossbar twice and also missing a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper.
They got their first goal after 28 minutes with a beautiful build-up from the right side, stringing together four passes to finish from a tap-in.
By the end of the first half, Knibb were up 3 – 0

AG’s Coach Andrew Morris says they were outplayed by a better-organized team. However,
(Ochi v Ferncourt match)
they are still hoping for a win in their final match of the round, Tuesday, to end with 6 points.
ST MARY Horace Clarke Looking Good
In Zone ‘I’ Although Tacky drew with St Mary High, they were able to maintain leadership of the Zone with Horace Clarke, a game in hand, hot on their heels.
Tacky opened the scoring in the 23rd minute following a goal-keeping error.
The ball was cleared by a Tacky defender, St Mary’s keeper apparently misjudged the flight of the ball and though a defender tried to clear the ball, Nathaniel Bigby of Tacky intervened and the ball ended up in the back of the net after ricocheting from the crossbar.
Jevaunye Chambers found the equalizer for St Mary in the 43rd minute, just before the half closed.
Jayden Davis, a former St Mary player now at Tacky, broke the deadlock in the 70th minute to make it Tacky 2, St Mary 1. Kihen Higgins brought St Mary back in the 85th minute on level terms to end the match 2-2.

The match of the round though was at Annotto Bay where Horace Clarke of Islington came up against Annotto Bay who led the tables in the early rounds.
Horace Clarke scored one in either half, the second being an own goal for Annotto Bay to take all three points. Jadin Webley was on the scorecard for Clarke.
Coach Reid of Horace Clarke said they were confident they would win. “The guys were confident. We have a thing going this season,” he told the North Coast Times. He said. “Annotto Bay is a good team but “we are a little better.” He said the strength is in the midfield. Horace Clarke have two matches to play.
Carron Hall got their first two goals against St Mary Technical who won their encounter Saturday. Technical does not seem to have a path to getting into the second round that involves the top four teams in the zone.
