ZONE ‘C’ ELITES TO BATTLE FOR INTERZONE

One of the four — Ocho Rios

The top four teams in the Zone of Death ‘C’ in the daCosta Cup have been selected to battle for two places in the Inter-Zone Round.

They are Cedric Titus, Ocho Rios, Brown’s Town, and William Knibb.

Cedric Titus of Trelawny emerged the leaders with 19 points after they defeated Brown’s Town 1-0 at Clarks Town, on Wednesday.

Ocho Rios High with 16 points are the second-placed team following the 4-0 defeat they handed to Aabuthnott Gallimore (AG), Wednesday.

Coach Eyan Kean of Ocho Rios said he rested several of his top players for the match and although they won 4-0, AG didn’t make it easy for them. He said he is looking forward to the next stage of the game, noting that teams keep their points and can get a maximum of nine more from the three games.

Coach Andrew Morris of AG said “We created more chances at goal than our opponent. We also were breaking down their attacks which got them frustrated.” He said because of that the game became very physical on an already slippery and wet field.

Brown Town High ended third having lost 0-1 to Titus at Clarks Town.

William Knibb pulled through with their 2-0 win against York Castle, at York Castle, Brown’s Town. Knibb were in jeopardy of not making it through after three points were taken away from them for the use of an ineligible player, a decision the Knibb coach Dwight Jeremiah has protested.

The defeat for YC means there is no further for them to go this season. Had they won the match against Knibb they would have been among the elite four from the Zone of Death.
