Port Antonio on Monday celebrated the victory of Titchfield High School in winning the TVJ School Challenge Championship.
At mid-morning in Port Antonio at the school, there were praises by the school administration and the mayor of the capital as students sounded vuvuzelas and applauded the winning team.
Titchfield High won the School’s Challenge Quiz (SCQ) competition on Thursday when they defeated Campion College 41 – 39 in a nail-biting final match. The SCQ team got a resounding applause as they walked towards the platform. The winning team included four players; Zedan Martin – team captain; Rajae Chambers; Demario Asquitt and Tajay Edwards along with two coaches Alpha Sparkes and Chase Roberts.
School principal Richard Thompson said, “we are extremely happy and proud about the performance of all the teams before but especially this particular team.”
School board chairman Lawrence Neufville was also full of praise for the team.
Mayor of Port Antonio Wayne McKenzie also extended congratulations to the team. Afterwards the police along with the cadet unit lead a parade through Port Antonio. Excitement took over the parish capital as residents joined in cheering the champions.
