Students at the Jacks River Basic School had a visit from team members of the North Coast Times team last week Friday, at the end of Child Month. The Times has been a friend of the school for the last three years, making regular visits and even carrying out improvements to the facilities. This time, on Friday, team members shared with the students and teachers reading to them, serving ice cream and cake and seeing to the students enjoyment of a bounce about brought to increase student stimulation and enjoyment on the day. The schools staff has been expanded with an assistant teacher, Clementine Barrett and a trained graduate teacher Lavern Bailey. The Times team found out that the school continues to struggle with a lack of reliable water supply. For years now there has been no piped water from the public system and water is trucked to the school. But even that is not regular. The school had completely run out of water last week. The entire community has water difficulties though some residents do get water, on a rotational basis, from the public system.
