Three months later… post-mortem outstanding in Highgate stabbing death

For one murder accused, it was the same story when he appeared in court last Thursday, as on the last occasion he was told the post mortem report was still outstanding.

As a result, the man charged for stabbing another to death, during a dispute in Highgate, St Mary last year, had his bail further extended.

The accused man, Jahvoy Johnson appeared before the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, September 7.

Johnson was charged in connection with the June 17, 2016 murder of Shamar Smith, otherwise called ‘Denver’, of Capture Land, Highgate, St Mary.

Reports from the Highgate Police are that about 12:30 p.m., Smith was involved in an altercation with Johnson, when a knife was used to stab him. The police were summoned and Smith was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As was the case on the last court date in May and then on June 15, the prosecution requested a further mention date for the report when the matter appeared in court last Thursday, September 7.

Johnson had his bail extended to return to court on November 2 by senior parish judge Yvette Wentworth-Miller.
