A thanksgiving service for the late Reverend Winston Warick Webster Allen, retired principal of Marcus Garvey Technical high Schools, was held on Wednesday, January 7 at the St Ann’s Bay Methodist Church. Officiating ministers were: Rev. Otto Wade, Rev. Everald Galbraith, Rev. C. Gooden, Rev Veronie Irons and Rev. Christopher McCatty.Winston Warick Webster Allen was remembered as a phenomenal man in his work and in his life with God. Mr Allen taught geography at Ardenne High School for seven years and then joined the Marcus Garvey Technical High School where he served as the first principal for 26 years.Winston Allen was baptized at age 11 years old, when he responded to an altar call at the St Ann’s Bay Methodist Church. From there on he was said to be a true servant of God. Mr Allen retired as an educator in 2001, he also served in the St Ann’s Bay Circuit of Methodist Churches and in various communities such as Ebenezer and Mount Zion from 2002-2005. Winston Allen was also a member of the Rotary Club of Ocho Rios which he served as president; the Jamaica Geographical Society of which he was the vice president and the St Ann Parish Library Committee where he served as treasurer. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace for the parish of St Ann in 1996. Rev Mr Allen married Vivine Veronica Gray on July 3, 1965. The union produced three sons, Andrew, Roger, Matthew and one daughter. Winston Allen died on December 18, 2014 at age 74.A tribute was done by the family and Rev Hyacinth Mullings and obituary done by Rev Christine Benuche A responsive Psalm was led by Matthew Allen and short sermon to the congregation was presented by Rev Otto Wade.
