People from across the nation turned out for the thanksgiving service for the life of the late businessman Owen George Flimn, at the Emmanuel United Church in Tower Isle, St. Mary on Saturday, March 28. The officiating ministers were Reverend Trevor Hylton and Pastor Amy Ewan.
George Flimn was hailed throughout the funeral service as a helpful and patriotic Jamaican, who came from humble beginnings to be a successful businessman, father, friend and mentor. Among those bringing tributes were Ambassador Burchell Whiteman, A.A. Bobby Pottinger, custos emeritus of St. Mary, Justice Ian Forte (retired). Mr Paterson commended Owen Flimn for his achievements in the commercial sector. And Burchell Whiteman described Owen Flimn as a very helpful and purposeful individual, who was a patriotic Jamaican. “He remained a humble individual, who respected everyone and treated the ordinary individual with much esteem. He never used his political affiliation to discriminate against anyone. He helped everyone.”

In his sermon, Reverend Trevor Hylton expressed his sympathies to the family but urged them to have comfort in the fact that God will always be on their side.
