The Trelawny police are awaiting consultations with the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences & Child Abuse (CISOCA) to determine whether to charge a 16-year-old male who was caught in a house with a teenaged girl, in Trelawny, last week. The 15-year-old school girl, the 16-year-old boy and two adult males were all reported to be held by police in a house in Bounty Hall, near Wakefield in the parish last week.

Reports are the four were held a house in which some lewd activities were reportedly taking place. As the girl is a minor she cannot consent to sexual intercourse. The Trelawny police held the two adult males, along with the 16-year-old boy, while the teenaged girl was questioned.

Head of the Trelawny police, Wilfred Campbell says the two adult males were however released because they were not involved in any sexual activities with the teenaged girl, as suggested in some media reports. Superintendent Campbell says the girl however, is reportedly involved in a relationship with the 16-year-old boy.

Reports are that the girl, who is 15-year-old, left home to attend school. It is reported however that she did not show up for school. She was instead caught by her father and other residents in the community with the men in the house. It is alleged that residents saw the teenager going in the house where the men lived and made an alarm.

Superintendent Campbell says before the matter is sent for a ruling from the court, CISOCA will be first consulted to determine if the 16-year-old male is to be charged. “Based on our investigations, there are a lot of things surrounding the case because the teenagers are involved in a relationship. We think it is best to hear from CISOCA due to the nature of the case before proceeding to charge the male,” said Superintendent Campbell. In the meantime, the police are still carrying out investigations and questioning the two teens.
