Police have arrested and charged four males, including a 14
year old boy with a variety of crimes in the parish since
February. Here are the cases:
- A 26-year-old plumber of St. Christopher Crescent,
Brown’s Town, St. Ann Joel Simms, has been charged
with attempting to break into a house in Discovery Bay,
in the parish on Monday, February 5.
Simms was charged with house breaking with intent,
malicious destruction of property and possession of house
breaking implements. Reports are that about 6:45 p.m., a woman was at home in
the Bridge View scheme when she heard a knocking on her
front door. An alarm was raised and a search of the premises
was conducted where Simms was seen hiding in the flowers
garden. He was detained by a security team and handed over
to the police.
Following an investigation, Simms was charged on
Wednesday, February 8, after a question and answer session
in the presence of his attorney.
14-Year-old With Bullets
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged after it was
alleged he was found with a part of a gun and ammunition.
The teen who can not be named because he is a minor has been
charged for Possession of Assorted Parts of a Firearm and
Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, following an incident in
Dam Head, Steer Town, St. Ann on Wednesday, February 8.
Police report that shortly after noon, lawmen were on patrol in the
area when they observed the accused putting an object in his
waistband. He was accosted, searched and found in possession of a
sock containing one magazine with nine 9mm cartridges. He was
subsequently arrested and charged. His court date is being finalized.
Cash, Appliances Stolen
The St. Ann Police have charged two men from Exchange,
Ocho Rios with breaking into a house in Belle Air Runaway
Bay and stealing several items and cash.
Charged with burglary and larceny, malicious destruction of
property and receiving stolen property are: 24-year-old Tray
Donovan, otherwise called ‘Tallman’, a labourer of Gordon
Town, and 22-year-old Demani Buchanan, otherwise called
‘Smokey’, a handyman of Middle Street, both in Exchange
district, Ocho Rios, St. Ann.
Reports from the St. Ann’s Bay Police are that about 8:30
p.m., on Tuesday, February 6, a man returned to his house in
Belle Air, Runaway Bay and discovered that his house had
been broken into. Several appliances, cellular phone
accessories and cash were stolen. A report was made to the
police and an investigation was launched. During the
investigation, the stolen items were found in the possession
of Donovan and Buchanan— who were later arrested.
Following a question and answer segment in the presence of
their attorneys, Donovan and Buchanan were charged. Their
court dates have not been finalized.
