A college students has been charged with the murder of one of his college mates. Police have charged 19-year-old Rushane Smikle of Frazer Wood, Highgate with the murder of eighteen-year-old Xavier James. Both attended Moneague College. The Times reported two weeks ago that James was stabbed and killed near his home in Buckfield. Reports had said at least three men chased him and James ran before he was stabbed and fell to the ground near his home, Saturday evening May 24. It’s still not clear why he was attacked however there are reports that the stabbing resulted from a longstanding dispute between James and schoolmates when they attended Ocho Rios High School. Police reports say a search is continuing for others said to be involved. The Times last week carried an appeal by James’ mother for persons who saw what happened to come forward and speak to the police. She said she had got information that her son had run into a KFC restaurant to save his own life and had been chased out and that after he was stabbed and on the ground, motorists refused to take him to hospital. She expressed faith that his killers would be caught. James was in the first year of a business course at Moneague College.
