tearsA man accused of shop breaking broke down in tears before Resident Magistrate Andrea Thomas last Thursday, February 12, in the St. Ann’s Bay RM court after his plea for her to offer him bail in his own surety was denied. Charged with shop breaking and larceny is Oral Pryce of Exchange near Ocho Rios, St. Ann. The circumstances which led to the charge were not outlined in court. However, the accused maintained that he was not guilty. Asked by the magistrate if he has ever been charged for a similar offense, the accused said about 10 years ago he committed an offense, but he said he has changed and has become a hardworking man.’Is a guy hold me and mash up me face and mouth,’ he told the RM pointing to his injuries. When he was told that he would be offered bail the accused begged the magistrate for bail in his own surety. “Your honour I don’t have anyone to bail me,” Pryce told the court. The man burst into tears when he was told his bond was set at $50,000 with up to three sureties. “Your Honour, please, a don’t have no one at all to bail me, I have no one to help me Your Honour, please,” the man said crying. “Your Honour, please, I am going to suffer in jail! I am going to suffer in jail, I know I am going to suffer in jail!” The man said as he was led from the courtroom by the police. His case will again be mentioned on April 1.
