Taxi driver killed in crash

A young taxi operator lost his life in a tragic road crash in south St Ann on Tuesday afternoon, October 23.
Dead is 23-year-old Ronaldo Odane Bell, also called Chidda, of Higgings Land.
Bell who was known to many as a jovial, pleasant young man has been in the taxi business for about three years. Friends told the North Coast Times that he was also involved in auto body mechanics.
Reports are that Bell whose taxi plied the route between Higgin Land and Alexandria, St Ann had done a passenger a favour and about 3:30 Tuesday. He was returning alone from the south of the parish when the crash took place along the road at Ballintyre, near Alva.
It’s not clear what caused the car to crash but the vehicle got out of control and overturned. Bell was taken to the Alexandria Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“Bell was said to be close to his family and had spoken to his mother up to two days earlier.
“Chidda was ever smiling. Nothing bother him,” a close friend of his family said.
He died leaving three children.
