SUSPECTS QUESTIONED IN 2 HORRIFIC MURDERS

BABY FATHER IN ONE CASE, SUSPECTS PICKED UP IN ANOTHER

The St Ann police are questioning suspects in two of the most horrific and talked about murders in the last few weeks.
Police say they have in custody a person of interest in the murder of 43-year-old Nardia Binns who was shot dead on Sunday, May 19 at her father’s house in Discovery Bay, St Ann.

The murder has left many people disgusted because Ms Binns had been attacked in that very house at the end of January. At that time she was badly chopped, hospitalized for weeks, and left blinded in one eye.
Police last week called for one of her children’s fathers to turn himself in as a person of interest.
Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of St Ann, Dwight Powell told North Coast Times, on Monday evening, May 27, that police were still questioning the person of interest who had responded to their appeal. He said the investigation was continuing and he could not say where it would lead.
SSP Powell also confirmed that police had in their custody two men in connection with the murder of 80-year-old Sylvia Barrett, also called Miss Puncie.
She was killed in her home, at Spring Garden, near Bamboo, on May 1. Her four-bedroom house was also set afire.
Ma Barrett was a vendor and gardener and was very active. A close relative saw fire coming from the home on Wednesday evening, May 1. After residents put out the fire, Ms Barrett was found dead, lying on her back with her hands bound above her head and her feet also bound.
It is believed she was strangled.
SSP Powell confirmed that police have in custody two suspects in that case and up to Monday evening, May 27, were continuing to question them about the murder.
