Ochi Man Is Person Of Interest In ‘Sweetie’ Probe

The police have named a man from Ocho Rios, St Ann who they say can assist them in their investigation into the sale of sweets that sickened nearly 60 children at  Ocho Rios Primary School on Monday, October 2.

He is Devon Holness of Mansfield Heights, commonly known as Falklands, Ocho Rios, ..

Police Commissioner Antony Anderson, speaking at a media briefing Tuesday afternoon said police were searching for Holness who they believe can assist in their investigation. They have asked that he report to the St Ann police.

Government spokespersons, including Health Minister Christopher Tufton have said the ganja-laced sweets entered the island illegally.

Vendors at the Ocho Rios Primary said they saw a man, who was not one of their regular numbers, selling the sweets to the children. The vendors told the man to go away but he is reported to have gone to the back of the school and sold the sweets.

More than 60 students were treated at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital after falling ill, Monday. The students are between seven and 11 years old. Five of them were kept at the hospital overnight for observation.
