Jewel Dunn’s River Beach Resort & Spa at Mammee Bay, St Ann staged its second 5K walk and 10K run on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. A number of participants came decked out in their house colour such as red, blue, yellow, white and green to participate in the event as a part of the Jewel’s sports activity. As they warmed up and demonstrated some stretch exercise to prepare their bodies for a long walk and run, the participants were all laughter and fun. Most participants in the 5K walk were women, with just a hand full of men. The 5K started off in sunny weather just after 4:15 pm at Dunn’s River on the North Coast Highway and ended at the Jewel Resort, Mammee Bay. As for the 10K it was dominated by men and it started at the Jewel Resort and went to Dunn’s River and back. The roadway was closed to vehicular traffic for the event. The road side stops offered water and orange for the runners and walkers. There was much fun at the finish line for the runners and walkers, some dripping in sweat, others just expressing joy at finishing the walk or run.
