Stolen pot found with food at man’s house

A man, who recently appeared in court for a reported robbery, reappeared before the St. Ann Parish Court on a new charge of housebreaking and simple larceny on Thursday, September 8.

The accused man is Alwayne Shakespeare of Moneague, in the parish.

The complainant reported to the Moneague police that he had secured his residence in the said community on August 25 of this year and left to visit the doctor due to illness. Upon returning, he noticed that locks were broken and his house ransacked as well as several items including articles of clothing and food were missing. Claims are that Shakespeare had been known in the area for carrying out such break-ins and was at once suspected.

The police then launched a search at Shakespeare’s residence. The missing items including the pot, now containing rice and sardine prepared by the accused, were discovered on the premises.

When asked by the police if the items belonged to him, Shakespeare reportedly said “If him seh a fi him a fi him”.

He was then taken in custody at the station where he then told the police “a buy mi buy them”.

He was asked by judge Andrea Thomas if he is guilty or not guilty of the crime.

“Not guilty, Miss,” he said.

The case is set for mention on October 13 when Shakespeare should appear with a lawyer.

Shakespeare was remanded into custody until that time.dutch-pot-by-msfluffykla
