COMMUNITY LEAGUE, ENDORSED BY FA, TO KICK OFF IN JULY

Sandals Resorts will be the main sponsors of the 2026 staging of the Steer Town Community Football League, in St Ann.
This was announced on Thursday, April 30, at a Press Launch held at the resort’s Louis Grant Conference Centre Board Room, at Sandals Dunn’s River, in St. Ann.
This year’s staging will see eight teams participating in the league, which is being organized and run by the Steer Town Community Organization and is slated to begin in July.
Speaking at the press launch, Kevin Clarke, Sandals Dunn’s River’s general manager, said the resort was “proud to stand alongside the Steer Town Community Organization in bringing this competition to life.” He said it represented a genuine desire to continue the upliftment of the community of Steer Town.”
Speaking to Sandals’ commitment to community development, the general manager observed, “As a company, we take our role as good corporate neighbours very seriously. Our investment in this league is a reflection of our belief that strong communities create a stronger Jamaica.”
President of the Steer Town Community Organization, Junior Wallace, thanked the resort for its sponsorship and said he looked forward to a continued harmonious working relationship. He said that over the years, the league had been a unifying instrument in community. “We have always been seeking a corporate sponsor, and we are over the moon that Sandals is on board.”
The teams will be divided into two zones, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.
President of the St. Ann Football Association, Danny Beckford, said, “The Football Association welcomes
Sandals back to St. Ann Football, and we wholeheartedly endorse the competition.”
