There are quite a few worried parents around on the Coast, and possibly elsewhere because of colours.
You see, this coming week, several schools have their Sports Day—inter house athletics — and children sometimes wear their house colours. That’s a problem for some parents and school officials now.
At The Times we have been told of at least two schools that have told students to come in their uniforms or wear white and put on their colours at schools when supporting their house.
Some schools just have houses known by their colour,e.g. green house, red house, orange house, yellow house and blue house being the more common. In generally bigger and better established schools, the houses have names but the favourite colours are about the same.
So because the two main political parties have colours common to some houses parents fear wearing the colour on the way to school could make their children a target. Two schools we know in St Ann have asked children to take the colours to school and not wear them on the roads.
It can’t be all that bad, can it?
