ST MARY WOMAN CHARGED FOR ONLINE DEFAMATORY SPEECH

FORMER CO-WORKERS TARGETTED IN MALICIOUS LIVE STREAM

PORT MARIA, St Mary; Oct 15, 2025

A St. Mary woman has been charged following what the police say was “a series of defamatory and malicious statements made during social media live streams targeting several individuals in the parish.”

Charged is 25-year-old Alexia Thompson, otherwise called “Lexi,” of Friendship, Islington, St. Mary. She has been charged with Malicious Communication under the Cybercrimes Act.

Reports are that between Thursday, October 2, 2025, and Saturday, October 4, 2025, Thompson allegedly used her social media platform to post and livestream several derogatory comments and images of former co-workers employed at a supermarket in Port Maria, St. Mary. The complainants reported feeling embarrassed, threatened, and distressed as a result of the public statements made without their consent.

Following investigations, Thompson was arrested and charged. She is scheduled to appear before the Port Maria Parish Court at a later date.

The St. Mary Police Division reminds the public that using social media to defame, harass, or intimidate others is a criminal offense and will be met with the full force of the law. The Division remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining public order, protecting citizens’ rights, and promoting responsible online behaviour..
