Playing in Highgate, St Mary — who barely entered the final four — slapped down Tacky three goals to nil but the team from Gayle still has a point lead in the Zone.

Head coach at St Mary, Kenroy Reid told The North Coast Times that his team had worked out Tacky from their match earlier in the round when they drew 2-2. He said Tacky doesn’t create a lot of chances and tend to rely on a few players.

Tacky however got one of the early chances in the game, in the 7th minute but it was  St Mary who were first on the board with a goal by Javada Lecky, the first of two for him. Another open goal chance fell to Tacky, near the end of the first half, but they bushed it.

Third-change for St Mary Kwayne Ormbsy scored the second in the 70th minute and Lecky got his brace about ten minutes later. Here is Ormbsy knocking on the door, before slotting one in, watch:

Team manager for Tacky Jevaughn Hinds said his team did not turn up. He said the coaching staff is strong and can lift the team. He said a loss now didn’t necessarily mean any danger to the team that could rally to win the next two matches and assure an Inter-Zone place.

In the other match of the Zone ‘I’ Monday, coach for Horace Clarke High, Neville  Reid bemoaned the fact that he had to enter the match against Wycliffe Martin with a second-string team. He told North Coast Times that several of his players were out on cards and others suspended from school for disciplinary issues. He said the team couldn’t concentrate on tactics but had to just keep Martin at Bay. Mr Reid said he and the team are preparing for Tacky following the Gayle team’s loss as he’s sure they will come with “fire in their eyes.”
