ST MARY MAN, WIFE CHARGED FOR GUN, AMMO

PROHIBITED WEAPON REPORTEDLY FOUND AT THEIR HOME IN CASTLETON

CASTLETON St Mary; April 29, 2025

A man and his wife have been charged with gun crimes after police said they found a gun and ammunition in a child’s knapsack at the couple’s home, St Mary, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

They have been identified as 31-year-old Shamar Newby o/c Speng, landscaper and 30-year-old Donesa Anderson-Newby, unemployed, both of  Orange Field, Castleton P.O., St. Mary.

The gun and ammunition were seized, and the two charged following an operation in Castleton. Members of the St. Mary Police Division and the Area Two Fugitive Apprehension Team carried out an early morning raid in Castleton, St. Mary.

They say that around 5:00 a.m., the officers executed a raid at a two-storey dwelling in the Orange Field area. During the search, one Steyr 9mm pistol, with a magazine and twenty-three (23) rounds of 9mm ammunition, was found concealed inside a child’s knapsack hanging on a wall in the bedroom.

Newby and his wife have been charged with illegal possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition.
