A preliminary report of the murder investigation into a Manchester woman’s death has been given to the attorney representing the man suspected of killing her.
The man, Patrick Moodie, alias ‘Chen’ or ‘Ramas’ of Mason Hall district in the parish, was further remanded into custody when he appeared before the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, September 1.
He is charged with the murder of 30-year-old Samantha Lindsay, also known as Trudy from Chudleigh district in Manchester. Moodie was being sought, for close to two months, as a person of interest in relation to the murder.
In court last Thursday, the crown prosecutor told parish judge Vaughn Facey that five of the statements in the case were not in compliance with the Committal Proceedings Act (CPA).
This means that once the files are in compliant with the new act, a parish judge will hold a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence from the witness statements to link the accused man with the crime.
Once this is made out, the case will be sent to the Circuit Court for trial.
The court was also awaiting the post-mortem certificate.
Moodie’s attorney, who had indicated on the last mention of the case, that a bail application would be made, did not mention this. Moodie was further remanded into custody until September 22, when the case will be mentioned.
Moodie was picked up on Saturday, July 30 in Gaza, Steer Town, St Ann by the St Ann police. He was later handed over to the St Mary police.
Police investigators believed that Samantha Lindsay was on her way to visit Moodie at the time of her death. It is further understood that Lindsay, who had been working in St Ann for some time, had a relationship with him.
Police reports are that residents heard explosions at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night, May 22, in the Grants Town area in St. Mary. The police were summoned and Lindsay was found on the ground with a bullet wound to the head. Lindsay died at hospital.
