ST MARY LOCK-UP ESCAPEE RECAPTURED

FOUND SLEEPING; FIFTH OF SEVEN BACK IN CUSTODY

 

Another of the detainees who escaped from the Oracabessa Police Lock Up last year December has been recaptured.

Police say 26-year-old Phillip Williams, also known as ‘Boe’, from Belfield, St Mary, was recaptured Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Williams is the fifth of seven detainees who escaped from the Lock-Up on Thursday, December 21, 2023. At the time it was reported they had cut away part of the metal ventilation system and escaped about 6 a.m. An investigation was to be launched into the escape.

Police report that Williams was facing charges of shooting with intent.

They say that on Tuesday, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., a targeted operation was conducted in the Guava Road area of Belfield, St. Mary. “Williams was discovered sleeping beneath a house,” police report. He was recaptured, and taken into custody.

Four others have been held and are back in police custody. It means two are still on the run more than three months after the escape.

The police are reminding citizens that it is an offence to harbour a fugitive. Persons with information that can assist in locating fugitives are being encouraged to contact the Oracabessa Police
