ST MARY JAIL CLEANER LOCKED UP

POLICE SAY HE TOOK CIGARETTES, LIGHTER AND GANJA INTO CELL

ANNOTTO BAY, St Mary; April 1, 2026

A man whose job is to help clean and secure the lock-up at Annotto Bay police station, St Mary, has ended up behind those very bars after allegedly taking contraband to the cells.

He is 35-year-old Wesley Webber of Dover District, St. Mary.

Webber has been charged with introducing prohibited articles into a lock-up. Webber is a civilian member of staff assigned to the Annotto Bay Police Station.

Reports are that on Monday, March 30, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the lock-up at the Annotto Bay Police Station was opened to facilitate the removal of garbage. During this time, a search was conducted, and the accused was allegedly found with a quantity of prohibited items concealed on his person.

The items seized include multiple cigarettes, lighters, rolling paper, and a quantity of vegetable matter resembling ganja.

Webber was arrested and charged with the offense.

He is scheduled to appear before the St. Mary Parish Court at the Annotto Bay Courthouse on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
