Six of the seven candidates for the three seats in St Mary signed the political code of conduct this morning (Thursday, February, 11) at the Anglican Church Hall, Port Maria.
Those signing were: West St Mary — Robert Montague (JLP) Joylan Silvera (PNP) and Paul Ward (Independent); St Mary central — Jason James (JLP) and Dr Morais Guy, PNP and St Mary South East — only Dr Winston Green signed as Norman Dunn was absent. Robert Montague apologized on his behalf.
Several messages encouraging peace were given by members of the clergy and the Custos, Errol Johnson with support from police head of area 2, ACP Glenford Hudson and Supt of the Parish Stephanie Lindsay.
Each candidate signed a certificate and then was issued with another by the custos. They all said they supported a peaceful, violence free campaign.
In moving around the parish, the North Coast Times continues to observe that almost every major town in the parish carries flags of one or the other or both major parties.
