A 19-man squad has been selected for training to prepare for the upcoming National 50 Overs All Island Cricket Competition expected to kick off this Saturday, August 23, at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, St James.
Jerry Reid, president of the Cricket Board said he expects a very bright season. He wants the players named to turn up at Jarrett Park for practice sessions now underway. He said Jarrett Park will now be considered as their home ground and the pitch is being prepared to fill that role. Last season there were complaints that the St James cricket team had to use the Trelawny multi-purpose stadium as their grounds.
A number of business operators in St James have expressed concern and anger at the St James Parish Council and the board in charge of Jarrett Park, accusing them of neglecting the grounds and allowing what they say is its destruction by footballers.
Those called for the Squad are- Romaine Lewis, Chacan Chambers, Neillomar Williams, Omar Romans, Samuel Evans, Leonardo Friginette, Errol Martin, Antonio Petrsuad, Damion Douglas, Milton Hamilton, Hodwayne Davis, Andre Ramgeet, Orlando Christie, Tyrone Johnson, Robert Johnson, Dalton James, Dwight Washington and Andrew Walker.
