Shock For Madras FC As They Fail To Advance
St D’Acre and Watt Town reached the finals of the SW St Ann Night Football League following Sunday’s semi-finals at Wilson s Shop in Alexandria, St Ann.
The competition is organized by the Member of Parliament for the area Zavia Mayne.
Sixteen teams entered the competition that has been playing before large crowds on Sunday evenings, through to the double header Sunday, September 10, to determine the finalists.
In the first match, St D’Acre shocked the crowd after they beat Madras on penalties. The two teams tied 1-1 after regulation and extra time. St D’Acre beat the Major League winners to earn their place in the finals.
In the second game, Watt Town beat Bulls FC 2-1 to take their spot in the finals.
The champions, to be crowned Sunday, will go up against the winners of a similar competition in the NW St Ann Constituency.
The format was changed from last year when there was only one competition for the two constituencies. That was won by Arcade of Brown’s Town, NW St Ann.
