St Ann’s record road deaths mount with crash this morning.

The driver of a car involved in a crash in St Ann died this morning.

Several people were rushed to the St Ann’s Bay hospital following the crash on the Laughlands/Llandovery road, part of the North Coast Highway.

Reports are that the crash occurred about 7:30 Friday morning and involved a Toyota Wish and a Hiace public passenger bus.-The death of the driver of the Toyota Wish brings to 42, the number of people killed on the road in St Ann so far this year.

Just last week, Senior Superintendent of Police Dwight Powell gave figures showing that up to November 8, there were 40 road deaths compared to 23 for the same period last year.

Only in the last few days, the soft shoulder of the roadway from Salem through Llandovery to Laughlands has been cleared, to enable better vision along the stretch. It is a part of that roadway between the turn-offs to Laughlands and Mines where this morning’s crash took place.
