Cops Say He Was Among Men Firing On Them
A teenager from St Ann is one of two males shot and killed by police in St Catherine, Saturday, July 15.
He is 17-year-old Tiwayne Cunningham, unemployed of Seaview Heights, Priory, St Ann.
The other person shot and killed, in what police said was a confrontation with them, is 30-year-old Cleon Rowe, unemployed of Kennedy Lane, Gordon Town St. Catherine.
The police report that about 8:15 a.m., lawmen were carrying out an operation in the Kennedy Lane, Gordon Town area, when they came under heavy gun fire. The lawmen took action and returned gunfire.
Cunningham and Rowe were later discovered with gunshot wounds in a building. They said also that two Sarsilmaz 9mm pistols were recovered from the men’s person, along with two .30 rounds and two 9mm rounds.
Area residents disputed the police report that they were fired on by the men among others.
The matter is being investigated by the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
