ESCAPED IN St CATHERINE, HELD IN PORTLAND
A St Ann man who escaped custody at the Tamarind Farm Correctional Facility is in the custody of the Portland Police.
He is 25-year-old Nathan Whitter, of Orange Hill, Brown’s Town, St Ann. Whitter was serving a 30-month sentence for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Reports are that on Thursday, October 26, Whitter was among inmates being supervised in farm activities at the low-security prison when he was seen running away. Correctional officers gave chase but were outrun by Whitter.
Police report that they led a targeted raid at a house at King Street, Port Antonio, Portland Friday morning, just after 11 o’clock. Whitter was accosted and surrendered to the police.
Investigations continue.
