Kaydian Harty, public relations/communications officer at the St. Ann Parish Council copped the All-Island Administrative Professional of the Year title on Sunday, April 3. Harty emerged the winner at the Jamaica Association of Administrative Professionals (JAAP) all-island judging of the Administrative Professional and Boss of the Year Competitions held at the Bay View Eco Resort & Spa in Port Antonio, Portland.
The Competition has been in existence since 1976 and usually staged as a precursor to Administrative Professionals Week to be celebrated during the period, April 24-30 under the theme, “Administrative Professionals…Partnering for Empowerment”.
Harty won the judges over as she spoke for three minutes on the topic, “Flexible work arrangements are an important part of an effective workplace policy and contribute to employee job satisfaction, retention and health.”
Runner up All-Island Administrative Professional of the Year was Veronica Forbes Blake, administrative officer at the Hugh Wynter Fertility Management Unit, University of the West Indies, Mona campus.
Richard Williams, regional customer service manager at the National Water Commission – Western Region copped the All-Island Administrative Professional of the Boss of the Year title.
Runner up All-Island Boss of the Year was David Drysdale, University Librarian employed to the University of Technology, Kingston.
The winners received trophies as well as some wonderful gifts sponsored by companies across Jamaica. Companies such as Dot Personnel Services, Spencer’s Tailoring, Kingston Bookshop, The Jamaica Observer, The Gleaner Company and WB Trophies have been consistent sponsors over the years.
This year the Competition celebrates 40 years of existence.
