Two St Ann men have been charged by police in different crimes involving the use of weapons. Twenty-two year old Bryan Irving was charged with robbery with aggravation for using a gun to hold up and rob a man, and 29-year-old Demani Newland has been charged with wounding with intent after stabbing a woman several times in Orange Hill.
Police said Irving has been charged with robbery with and aggravation stemming from an incident that happened on the Dunn’s River main road in St. Ann on Wednesday, November 16.
Reports are that at about 4:00 pm, Irving who was armed with a handgun pounced upon a man and robbed him of his cellular phone, camera and other belongings. Quick action by the police, then led them to a location where Irving was hiding and he was arrested and charged the same day.
His court date is being finalised.
Police also report that Newland, a customer service representative, of Liberty Valley near Brown’s Town has been charged with wounding with intent after he inflicted several stab wounds to a woman in Orange Hill, St. Ann on Sunday, December 4.
Reports are that about 10:30 a.m., Newland was at a woman’s house doing construction work, when an argument developed between them. During the dispute, Newland used a knife to stab the woman several times to her upper body. The police were summoned, and the woman taken to hospital, where she was admitted.
Newland was apprehended at the scene and later charged.
His court date is also being arranged.
