A group of twelve young professionals in St Ann, known as the St Ann Life Builders Foundation, took to the streets of St Ann’s Bay for their inaugural project of feeding seventy needy and homeless individuals on Saturday, August 16. The team started from the post office and walked through Main Street giving the homeless and needy a meal.
The Foundation was started in May of this year by President Amando Johnson, a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. Johnson told The Times that the Foundation’s objective is “to assist with community development which targets education and the social environment by reaching out to the under privileged and unattached youths in our society, with the aim of helping our country in achieving its vision 2030.”
He said: “The team’s effort was just a way of giving back to the community.”
The executive members of the Foundation are: vice president Mark Russell; project manager, Carlene Shirley; treasurer, Dean Shirley; public relations officer, Raymore Williams and secretary, Deslon Brown. They were very ecstatic about their first major project since the birth of the Foundation.
The group meets every second Sunday of the month at Shop # 7 Palm Plaza, St. Ann’s Bay.
The group expressed gratitude to Bravo Supermarket, located in the parish capital, for its sponsorship of the feeding project.
