St Ann Has Mountain To Climb Against Kingston CC

Damani Sewell — and team face tough task

KINGSTON HAS CLEAR ADVANTAGE AT DISCOVERY BAY

St Ann Cricket Association has a mountain to climb if it is to beat Kingston Cricket Club in their semi-final senior Cup match taking place at Discovery Bay.

At the close of play Saturday, on the first day of the two-day match, Kingston held the contest firmly in its grip with 193 all out on the board. St Ann reached 89 for six with more than 100 runs needed to take first innings and reach the finals.

Kingston has Mikale Riley, 91, to thank for its strong position which brought it from 66 for six, in the pre-lunch period to its massive first innings total. The seventh wicket put on 67 runs moving the score from 66 for 6 to 133 for 7, to take the advantage away from St Ann

Also making strong contributions to Kingston’s score were Derval Green 32, and Akim Fraser 21.

Four St Ann bowlers took two wickets each: Damani Sewell, Orlando Royes,  Kevaundre Virgo, and Christopher Lamont. At the crease for St Ann to resume the innings, Sunday are Ronaldo Ingram on a solid 54 and Sashane Anderson 7 not out. St Ann will be hoping they can lift the score to some respectability to make a first innings lead likely and move on to the finals.
