A man who along with three others escaped custody of the Ocho Rios police four months ago was shot and killed by law officers on Saturday, December 3.
He is 31-year-old Terrance Harrilal of Claremont, St. Ann. He was shot and killed during a reported confrontation with the police about 5:05 pm at Hampstead, Runaway Bay, in the parish.
According to the police a team acting on an intelligence tip went on a snap raid in the Hampstead area of Runaway Bay in search of Harrilal who was among four men who escaped from the Ocho Rios police station lock-pp on August 5. He had been charged with shooting with intent and was in custody awaiting court hearings.
Police said they did not see the fugitive at the place expected but they saw him on the roadway in Hampstead and identified themselves.
Police said they attempted to accost him when he reached for his waist and pulled out a shiny object. The Police took evasive action and he was shot and injured.
