St Ann police successfully defended their athletics championship in the Area 2 competition, last week Thursday, May 7.
From the highest to lowest ranks of the police turned out in their numbers, along with the public,at the Folly Oval, Port Antonio, for the Area 2 police sports day.Several law enforcers from St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland, Area 2, participated in numerous athletic activities.
After a very competitive programme , St Ann emerged champions defending their title from last year, scoring 263 points. St. Mary copped second place with 244 points and Portland finished third with 233 points.The champion male athlete of the competition was Constable Winston McIntosh from St. Mary. District Constable Antherlee Bryan of Portland won the champion female title.Acting ACP Glenford Hudson in charge of Area 2 police said, “This has been a very good year as the athletes from the various parishes turned out to compete for their parish. The officers were very enthused and the rivalry was very good and although persons were from different teams they supported each other.He congratulated St. Ann for defending their title and said the winning team was being prepared for police national sports later this month.
