CALLS FOR SOCIAL, MORAL SPIRITUAL CHANGES IN SOCIETY
RUNAWAY BAY, St Ann: June 1, 2024
The St Ann Chamber of Commerce (SACOC) held its inaugural prayer breakfast on Saturday, June 1.
The ecumenical service was held at the Holiday Haven Condo Resort in Runaway Bay, under the theme “Unite St Ann. Unite Jamaica.”
.President of the SACOC, Dr Ransford Davidson said the event was held to issue a “stirring call for all leaders of St Ann…..it’s a call for us to come together,” to unite and deal with the issues negatively impacting the parish.

He said divine guidance and direction were a necessary part of the process. The Chamber President said there was a crushing of values in the society. He repeated the National Pledge and said the values embraced by it should be brought to the forefront.Pastor Sheron Davidson)

Several preachers from various denominations also called for a greater sense of Godliness in St Ann and the wider society. They listed a range of issues, from crime to the environment and from the treatment of workers by business owners to the dirty state of public places.
Guest speaker was Bishop Dr Delford Davis of the Power of Faith Ministries.

Among the other preachers taking part were Andrew Blake, United Brethren of Christ Church, who was master of Ceremonies; Rev Philbert Whynn, United Lifeline Deliverance Church of God; Pastor Sheron Davidson, Bezer Holiness Church of God; Rev Andrew Gordon, St Ann’s Bay Circuit of Baptist Churches and pastor Paul Norman, Kingdom Lighthouse Apostolic Ministries.
Among the guests were Matthew Samuda, Minister of Water, representing Prime Minister Andrew Holness; Dr Kenneth Russell, Opposition Deputy Shadow Minister of Education, representing Opposition Leader Mark Golding; Mayor of St Ann’s Bay Michael Belnavis, Councillor Ian Isaacs and Marlene Davidson, representing St Ann Custos Norma Walters.

Second Vice President of the Chamber Andrea Mumby introduced the guest speaker and the vote of thanks was given by a director of the Chamber Doreen Pindling Williams. Director and member of the Events and Fund Raising Committee Sharon Williams provided logistic support.
Shane Haslam of the United Lifeline Deliverance Church led a dynamic praise and worship session.
