BAGS OF WASTE REMOVED FROM BEACH AT PRIORY
ST ANN BAY, St Ann; Sept. 23, 2024 –
Large amounts of waste, mainly plastics, were removed from the Forbes Beach in Priory, St. Ann on Saturday, September 21, International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day.
Members of the Jamaica Association of Administrative Professionals (JAAP) St. Ann Chapter joined hands with the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) in collecting and clearing approximately 20 large bags of garbage.

The event, held under the theme “Sea the Change” aimed to raise awareness about the environmental impact of improper waste disposal, particularly plastics, on Jamaica’s coastline.
“As a professional body, JAAP actively engages in various civic and community projects. ICC Day is one of our calendar events and we are proud to contribute to this global initiative. Our members are committed to environmental sustainability, best practices and community engagement,” said Sharon Williams, JAAP St. Ann Chapter vice president and site co-ordinator for the Beach Cleanup Project.
The ICC Day is observed annually on the third Saturday of September, it is a global effort to combat marine pollution.
