POLICE SEIZE 1,000+ ROUNDS, GUN PARTS

St Mary Police seized more than one thousand (1,000) rounds of assorted ammunition and multiple firearm parts, Thursday, April 10, 2025.
In a statement Thursday afternoon the police said the 1,086 rounds of ammunition and gun parts were seized in a series of targeted operations, between 7:30 and mid-day in the Castleton Police Area.

During one of the raids, law enforcement personnel acting on intelligence breached and searched an abandoned four-bedroom concrete structure located in Devon Pen, Castleton. Inside, they discovered two black grocery bags and one brown bag concealed in a front room. Upon inspection, the bags were found to contain a significant cache of ammunition, including:

591 rounds of 12-gauge cartridges’ • 318 rounds of .38; • 78 live 9mm rounds and 2 spent casings

76 rounds of .45; • 11 rounds of 5.56; • 7 rounds of 7.62; • 4 rounds of .22

1 round of .303 and • 9 firearm magazines
The police say these operations form part of continued efforts to disrupt the trafficking and storage of illegal weapons and ammunition in the parish. Investigations are ongoing.
