A taxi operator has told the North Coast Times that he saw fugitive Dwight Henry in Ocho Rios and told the police on the streets.
The taxi operator said this happened about two weeks ago. He said Henry was in the striped top seen in pictures released by the police. The route taxi operator, who asked not to be identified, said he saw Henry along the main road near Pineapple, Ocho Rios and he drove up close to him to get a better look and asked Henry if he wanted to go to Ocho Rios. Henry declined.
The operator said he went further down Main Street and approached two police officers who were on the street. He said they were making arrangements to tow a taxi and the senior officer dismissed him. Later, however, he approached two other officers, one of them he knows from intelligence. The officers went with him but Henry was gone.
There was also another sighting of Henry, days after his escape, on a beach near Boscobel. The fishermen who saw him did not report him to the police.
