Sidewalk car lots get attention of St Ann Corporation

Road side used car lots have attracted the attention of the St Ann Municipal Corporation (SAMC).

At last week Thursday’s meeting of the Corporation, as the councillors discussed illegal vending, chairman Michael Belnavis, said that he had seen that a different form of illegal vending had sprouted on the side of the road between Ocho Rios and St Ann’s Bay.

People have been pointing out that almost anywhere there is some space along the verges of the North Coast Highway, car lots have been opening up.

The largest ones are at the Drax Hall intersection, outside of Epping Service station, across from the playfield; along the roadway west of the St Ann’s Bay bus park, and also outside the Rubis station at Runaway Bay.

Mayor Belnavis in pointing out some of the lots said something had to be done about them

The SAMC, however, took no decision about the growing number of roadside car lots. The mayor however indicated that in the context of the upcoming Christmas season, those and street side illegal bill boards and posters would not be tolerated.
