SHOP BURNT DOWN FOLLOWING FIGHT

MAN WHO HAD THREATENED TO BURN IT DOWN CHARGED

OCHO RIOS, St Ann; March 9, 2025

A twenty-five-year-old St Ann man has been charged in connection with burning down a shop owned by the mother of two men with whom he had a fight.

Obrian Walters of Walkers Wood, St Ann, was charged with Arson following an incident in his community on Tuesday, February 25.

According to police, about 12:15 a.m., Walters got into a physical altercation with two brothers. Following the fight, he threatened to burn down a business owned by their mother.

Later that day, fire was seen coming from the shop after the men’s mother had closed it.

The police and the fire department were alerted, and the fire was contained. According to the police, during an investigation into the matter, Walters was arrested, after which he confessed to the crime during a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney. He was subsequently charged.

His court date is being arranged.
