The body has still not been found of Nicholas Malcolm, 43, fisherman and former Jamaica tennis star who is believed to have been attacked by a shark on Wednesday, September 19, last week .
Fisher folk said they retrieved parts of Malcolm’s body that showed marks indicating shark bites. But from checks by the North Coast Times there was no conclusive proof of how he died nor has his body been found.
Reports are that Malcolm and another fisherman went spear fishing in the Wilderness area, between Oracabessa and Galina, where the craggy rocks fall straight down to deep water. The men were fishing in the area and Malcolm was said to be attacking a Barracuda and handling himself well. The other fisherman moved on but after returning to shore for some time he didn’t see Malcolm and made an alarm.
A search was started and the police were alerted. They, in turn, called the JDF Coast Guard. An officer of the Coast Guard told North Coast Times that they deployed “surface assets” including several personnel to assist in the search but found nothing.
